- U - Stands for Universal, suitable for all ages, from age 4 upwards. These are films that have more positive morals compared to a film which is full of horror or violence.
- PG - Stands for Parental Guidance, children aged 8 and above, however, parents are advised if the content within the PG will upset younger or more sensitive children.
- 12/12A - For children aged 12 and above may view the film, some parts of the film may upset children under the age of 12 years. A child under the aged of 12 may not see a 12A unless accompanied by an adult.
- 15 - ages 15 and above, no younger, within the film there may be horror features, strong threats and menace within the films, inappropriate language may be used, nudity/sex may also be used but not strong content of it.
- 18 - ages 18 and above ONLY, very high strong content of nudity/sex scenes, drugs, violence/horror, discrimination.
Thrillers are normally classified as a 15 or 18. This is due to the content within them as some have high levels of violence, sex, language and may be disturbing to those under the age limit however, it cannot contain sexual images or a great amount of pain. Thrillers are normally aimed at older people and more towards men as thrillers have a high level of action and violence.
